Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features a stylized map of the European Union rendered in dotted relief at center, set against a geometrically faceted background with diagonal and angular design elements typical of modern Belgian commemorative coinage. The country name appears in three languages along the upper field: BELGIE to the upper left and BELGIQUE to the upper right in raised Latin lettering. The denomination 10 EURO and the date 2020 are inscribed in the right field, while the designer's initials LL and the mint master's privy mark qp appear in the lower field.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a detailed numismatic rendering of the celebrated Flemish Early Renaissance painting The Arnolfini Portrait (1434) by Jan van Eyck, showing the two standing figures of the couple facing one another at center, the man in a wide-brimmed hat and long robe to the left and the woman in an elaborate gown to the right, their hands joined in a gesture of betrothal. A convex mirror and a chandelier are rendered in the background field, faithfully evoking the iconographic program of the original oil painting. The legend THE ARNOLFINI PORTRAIT (1434) curves along the upper left rim, while JAN VAN EYCK is inscribed along the upper right in large incuse lettering.
