| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts the Statue of Liberty of the Grenelle quarter of Paris, rendered in a frontal composition with the Eiffel Tower visible in the background field. In the foreground, the torch flame is highlighted with a selective gold deposit applied over the silver surface, creating a striking polychrome accent. The design is executed in high relief with detailed architectural rendering. A circular legend surrounds the central motif, incorporating the French Republican monogram RF. The overall composition reflects the artistic style of the Tresors de Paris commemorative series. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
This piece belongs to a Monnaie de Paris series commemorating the Franco-American gift of the Statue of Liberty, a project spearheaded by French political historian Édouard de Laboulaye and realized through sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. What's often overlooked is that France actually produced two statues: the full-scale original sent to New York in 1886, and a quarter-scale replica installed on the Île aux Cygnes in Paris in 1889 — the "Statue of Liberty Grenelle" of this coin's title. The Paris version faces southwest toward New York, a deliberate orientation.
