| 背面描述 | A single-engine monoplane, identified as the Spirit of St. Louis, is depicted in flight over the River Seine with the city of Paris rendered in the background, evoking the triumphant conclusion of the first nonstop transatlantic flight. The Statue of Liberty appears in the background to signify New York, the departure point of the historic journey. The legend 'NEW YORK - PARIS - 21 MAI 1927' arcs near the upper edge of the coin, commemorating the date of Charles Lindbergh's landing at Le Bourget. The name 'Spirit of St Louis' is inscribed along the right fuselage of the aircraft, just aft of the engine cowling. The year of issue '2017' appears below the aircraft in the exergue area above the river. |

Issued to mark the 90th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh's May 1927 transatlantic crossing, this piece commemorates a flight that took 33.5 hours and covered roughly 5,800 kilometers from Roosevelt Field, New York to Le Bourget aerodrome outside Paris. The French connection is direct: the Monnaie de Paris has a particular institutional stake in the event, as it was a $25,000 prize offered by French-born New York hotelier Raymond Orteig that motivated the attempt in the first place.
Lindbergh landed to a crowd estimated at 150,000.
