| 背面描述 | The reverse presents the same smelt fishing scene rendered from a subaqueous perspective, depicting the view from beneath the frozen lake surface looking upward through the ice. Schools of smelt are shown turning in circular motion, disoriented by the percussive vibrations transmitted through the ice from above. A pad-printing technique imparts an iridescent, opalescent sheen to the fish, evoking the play of filtered sunlight through the ice. The inscription STINTŲ ŽVEJYBA VILIOJANT is prominently placed in the field, accompanied by the Lithuanian Mint mark LMK. The colored printing gives the reverse a distinctive visual depth and luminosity that contrasts with the monochromatic obverse. |

Part of Lithuania's ongoing "Ethnographic Treasures" series documenting traditional folk practices, this issue commemorates smelt fishing by torch — a winter and early spring technique once widespread across the Nemunas delta and the Curonian Lagoon, where fishermen used open flame to attract smelts to the surface through ice holes at night. The practice declined sharply through the Soviet period as collective fishing operations displaced subsistence and craft methods.
