Part of the Monnaie de Paris's multi-year Harry Potter licensing series, this issue was produced under a broader agreement with Warner Bros. that allowed the French mint to strike legal-tender collector coins based on the film franchise. The .333 fineness — more copper than silver — keeps it firmly in the novelty category despite the legal tender status, and mintages were capped to sustain collector demand across the series installments.
