10 Euros Schloss Hof Castle

Schloss Hof was acquired by Prince Eugene of Savoy in 1725 and transformed into one of the most ambitious Baroque estate complexes in Central Europe, with terraced gardens descending to the Marchfeld plain. After Eugene's death in 1736 it passed to Maria Theresa, who expanded it further and used it as a favored imperial retreat. Austria's silver commemorative program of the early 2000s worked through a rotating roster of architectural monuments, and Schloss Hof appeared in the series before the estate had completed its long post-Soviet restoration — the gardens were only fully reconstructed to their 18th-century layout around 2008.
