Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed, relief portrait of Dominikos Theotokopoulos — known as El Greco — occupying the right and central field, depicted with a short beard and a ruffled collar characteristic of late Renaissance portraiture. An arched architectural motif reminiscent of Renaissance stonework frames the portrait to the left, while vertical fluted pilaster elements appear at the right. The denomination 10 / ΕΥΡΩ (10 EURO) is inscribed within the archway to the left of the portrait. The artist's name, Δομίνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος, is rendered in a flowing cursive script along the upper border, recalling his own personal signature style.

Additional information

Greece's Renaissance silver series was launched to highlight the country's contribution to European humanist thought — a politically pointed project given that Greece was still clawing out of its third bailout program in 2018, with the Tsipras government eager to reassert cultural prestige at a moment of diminished economic standing. The 2019 installment continued that agenda.

KM#319 carries a mintage low enough to make it a genuine short-run commemorative rather than a mass-market issue, though exact figures vary by source.
