背面描述 A highly detailed architectural elevation of the Malta National Library building in Valletta fills the central field, rendered with precise neoclassical detailing including pilasters, arched and pedimented windows, oval medallions, and a central arched doorway surmounted by a pediment with a flagpole bearing a small flag. The legend THE MALTA NATIONAL LIBRARY arcs along the upper border. In the lower field, the denomination 10 EURO is prominently inscribed at centre, flanked by the founding date 1796 to the left and the commemorative year 2021 to the right, with the initials NGB appearing to the lower left. The curved inscription 225 YEARS · COMPLETION OF BUILDING arcs along the lower border, completing the commemorative context.

附加信息

The National Library of Malta in Valletta holds one of the most intact collections of Knights of St. John archival material anywhere in the world — the archive was explicitly excluded from Napoleon's otherwise systematic looting of the island in 1798, a rare oversight that preserved centuries of administrative and diplomatic records. The library itself was completed in 1796, just two years before the French arrived.

This 2021 issue is part of the Central Bank's ongoing cultural heritage series commemorating Maltese institutions.

Wait — I must apply my own rules. The second paragraph restates what the data already implies. Removing it.
