The lower portion portrays participants of the Slovak National Assembly of 1861, at which the Memorandum of the Slovak Nation was formally adopted. The inscription identifying the commemorated document and its date arcs along the upper or peripheral field. The composition is rendered in a narrative, historicist style befitting the commemoration of a seminal moment in Slovak national identity. |
