10 Euros Loden, silver, coloured

Part of Austria's long-running "Faszination Tracht" series celebrating regional textile traditions, this issue focuses on Loden — the dense, fulled wool fabric whose production has been centered in the Alpine foothills, particularly around Windischgarsten and the Steyr valley, for several centuries. Austrian Loden gained international commercial reach in the 19th century when Archduke Johann actively promoted indigenous Alpine crafts and industries as a political and cultural project distinct from Viennese court culture.

The applied colour process uses a pad-printing technique developed specifically for Münze Österreich's costume series, requiring a separate production stage after striking.
