Obverse description Against a dark field, a stylized map of northwestern Europe occupies the upper portion of the obverse, depicting rail lines radiating outward to connect the cities of London, Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Köln, Luxembourg, and Paris, with route lines converging at a central hub. To the lower left, the inscription 'Gare Lille Europe' appears in bold relief lettering, identifying the station celebrated by this issue. The lower portion of the field features a stylized architectural rendering of the Gare Lille Europe station building, flanked by a wave-like decorative motif suggestive of high-speed rail lines. The state monogram 'RF' (République Française) is prominently placed in the lower exergue.
