Part of the long-running Monnaie de Paris *Le Petit Prince* series, this issue draws on Saint-Exupéry's 1943 novella at a moment when the French state held active interest in protecting the character commercially — the 70-year copyright expiration in France had passed in 2015, triggering renewed institutional attention to official licensed products. Low-denomination billon issues in this series were aimed squarely at the gift and collector market rather than circulation, and the .333 fineness reflects that economics drove the specification, not tradition.
