| 背面描述 | Central design features the celebrated Botafumeiro, the large ceremonial thurible of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, suspended prominently in the field. Behind it, a schematic architectural rendering of the Cathedral facade is depicted, accompanied by a stylized representation of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. The denomination 10 EURO and the mint mark M appear in the field alongside the legend XACOBEO 2010, commemorating the Holy Compostelan Year. |

The Jacobean Holy Year — declared whenever July 25th, the feast of Saint James, falls on a Sunday — occurs irregularly and drives one of Europe's oldest continuous pilgrimage traditions. 2010 was one such year, prompting Spain to issue a dedicated commemorative series. The Camino de Santiago has functioned as a unifying cultural artery across the Iberian Peninsula since at least the 9th century, when the tomb at Compostela was first venerated under Alfonso II of Asturias.
The next Holy Year after 2010 fell in 2021, delayed a year from 2021's original calendar alignment due to COVID-19 disruptions.
