Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Juan Carlos I occupies the central field, rendered in finely engraved relief with detailed hair and facial features in a contemporary portrait style. The legend JUAN CARLOS I REY DE ESPAÑA curves along the upper periphery, separated from the rim by a beaded inner border. The date 2012 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait, also within the beaded border. The overall design is clean and restrained, consistent with the official coinage portrait series issued by the Royal Mint of Spain.
