| 背面描述 | Facing three-quarter portrait bust of Joséphine de Beauharnais, elegantly coiffed with an elaborate upswept hairdo adorned with curls and decorative ornaments, wearing drop earrings and a pearl necklace, rendered in fine relief against a field decorated with a repeated floral and butterfly motif. The circular legend JOSÉPHINE DE BEAUHARNAIS arcs around the upper periphery, while the dates 1763 and 1814, denoting her birth and death years, are inscribed in the lower field flanking the portrait. |

Part of the Monnaie de Paris "Femmes de France" series, this issue commemorates Joséphine de Beauharnais, Napoleon's first wife and France's only Empress consort. Born in Martinique in 1763, she outlived the marriage — Napoleon divorced her in 1809 after she failed to produce an heir — but retained the title of Empress and the château de Malmaison until her death in 1814. The divorce was a calculated dynastic move; Napoleon reportedly wept during the proceedings.
