| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a stylized female figure rendered in Jean-Paul Gaultier's signature artistic vision, wearing a classic Breton striped marinière top and holding a bouquet of flowers, evoking the spirit of Provence. A dove in flight appears to the upper right of the figure, while in the background the distinctive silhouette of a Mediterranean cityscape — suggestive of Marseille with its basilica — rises behind the composition. The design is richly detailed with bold, illustrative lines characteristic of Gaultier's fashion aesthetic. The curved legend 'LA FRANCE par Jean-Paul Gaultier' arcs along the upper portion of the field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
This piece belongs to the "Masterpieces of French Craftsmanship" series, for which Monnaie de Paris contracted Jean-Paul Gaultier directly as artistic director — an unusual arrangement that gave a living fashion designer full creative authority over a legal tender coin. Gaultier, known for treating the body as a design surface since his earliest prêt-à-porter work in the 1970s, produced a series of ten regional issues under this commission. "La Provence rayonnante" was among them.
The .333 fineness is deliberately low — closer to billon than to modern collector silver — keeping production costs within the mass-market gifting segment Monnaie de Paris was explicitly targeting.
