| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a portrait-relief of General Francisco Javier Castaños, Duke of Bailén, based on the sculptural work by José María Galván. Castaños is depicted in military uniform befitting his rank as the commanding general who led Spanish forces to victory over the French army at the Battle of Bailén on July 19, 1808. The legend encircling the design reads 'GUERRA DE LA INDEPENDENCIA BICENTENARIO' referencing the bicentennial of the Peninsular War. The denomination '10 EURO' and the Madrid Mint mark 'M' appear within the inscription. The composition honors Castaños's title of Duke, conferred upon him in recognition of his decisive victory. |

Issued as part of Spain's multi-year commemorative program marking the bicentennial of the Peninsular War, this coin honors the Battle of Bailén of July 1808 — the first open-field defeat of a Napoleonic army in Europe. General Castaños forced the surrender of General Dupont and roughly 18,000 French troops, a shock that briefly emboldened resistance movements across the continent and prompted Napoleon to enter Spain personally that autumn with the Grande Armée.
Dupont was court-martialed on his return to France and imprisoned. Napoleon never forgave him.
