Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features a stylized flaming torch or censer set upon an ornate pedestal, flanked by two large serpentine or dragon-like decorative elements rendered in an intricate Baroque-inspired style. The central motif symbolizes divine illumination, consistent with the archangel Uriel's role as bearer of light. The circular legend reading 'R·E·P·U·B·L·I·K Ö·S·T·E·R·R·E·I·C·H' arcs across the upper field, while the denomination '1·0 E·U·R·O' is inscribed along the lower periphery, all letters separated by raised dots. The date '2018' appears on a scroll at the base of the central device, and the mint mark is present in the lower field.

Aanvullende informatie

Austria's "Heavenly Messengers" series ran from 2016 to 2018, covering the four archangels recognized in Western tradition. Uriel completed the set. The coins were struck in niobium-center bimetallic format for the collector series, but this copper issue is the base-metal companion piece — produced for general sale rather than the numismatic editions that drew most of the collector attention.

Uriel's canonical status is notably contested: he appears in 1 Enoch and 2 Esdras but was formally excluded from official Catholic veneration by the Synod of Rome in 745 AD under Pope Zachary.
