The third release in Austria's "Heavenly Messengers" series, this Raphael issue followed the Gabriel (2016) and Michael (2017) coins in what became one of the Münze Österreich's more commercially successful thematic programs of the late 2010s. Raphael's association with healing derives primarily from the deuterocanonical Book of Tobit, where he accompanies Tobias and later reveals his angelic identity — a text accepted as scripture in Catholic and Orthodox traditions but excluded from the Protestant canon, a distinction that quietly shapes how differently this coin lands across its European buyer base.
