| Additional information |
Gabriel is the third release in the Austrian Mint's "Heavenly Messengers" series, which ran from 2015 to 2018 across four angels. The series was struck using the Mint's niobium-insert technology on earlier issues, but this silver-only entry relies entirely on relief and selective frosting to achieve its layered effect — no colored metal core. Austria has leaned heavily on thematic religious and mythological series since the early 2000s, and this one drew on longstanding Central European devotional iconography with a specificity that distinguishes it from generic angel coinage produced elsewhere in the eurozone.
