| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is dominated by the large inscription 'ESCUDO' across the center of the field, with the Portuguese coat of arms integrated into the letter 'U' as a decorative element. Above, the legend 'MOEDAS HISTÓRICAS' arches across the upper portion of the coin. Three partial coin motifs are depicted around the periphery: at the upper left, a classical laureate bust in profile reminiscent of early Portuguese Republican coinage; at the upper right, a caravel sailing vessel within a circular frame evoking the iconic 1-escudo design; and at the lower right, a stylized rosette pattern referencing another historic escudo type. The date '2010' appears in the lower field, with the engraver's signature 'ESC VITOR SANTOS INCM' inscribed along the lower left inner border. |
