Aanvullende informatie

Emil Wikström (1864–1942) was among the first generation of Finnish sculptors to train abroad and return with a distinctly national program — his work on the Pohjola Insurance Building in Helsinki and the Senate Square's Alexander II monument placed him at the center of Finnish national romanticism. This coin was issued as part of Finland's long-running series honoring figures in art and culture, a program that has consistently favored .500 silver rather than the finer alloys used by neighboring mints, a cost-driven choice that has made the series less popular with bullion collectors but broadly accessible as commemoratives.
