Additional information

Issued as part of France's regional euro preview series in the years immediately before the currency's 1999 introduction, this piece was never legal tender — it was a collector's anticipation token, municipally endorsed but monetarily inert. La Côte-Saint-André, a small commune in Isère, used it primarily to promote local identity ahead of the transition. The town is best known as the birthplace of Hector Berlioz.
