Discovery — to use intellectual property that has been actively trademarked and commercially managed since the 1940s. The Wonder Woman trademark is among the most litigated character marks in American comics history, which makes the licensing terms for sovereign mint issues unusually complex compared to historical or allegorical subjects.
Billon at .333 fine was the workhorse composition of medieval French coinage. Its appearance here is a deliberate nod to that tradition rather than a cost-cutting measure.
