Part of the Monnaie de Paris "Régions de France" series, this piece was issued as one of a rotating set of regional editions produced annually from 2010. Brittany's entry into the series arrived amid ongoing political debate in France over the administrative boundaries of the region — the Loire-Atlantique department, historically Breton, remains excluded from the modern administrative region of Bretagne. The .500 fineness used across this series was a deliberate cost-containment choice, keeping retail prices accessible while maintaining silver status.
