Beschrijving voorzijde Stylized effigy of King Willem-Alexander facing right, rendered in a distinctive stippled or granular artistic technique that gives the portrait a textured, impressionistic quality. The bust occupies the central field, with the king's profile depicted in low relief against a similarly textured background. The circular legend reads 'WILLEM-ALEXANDER' to the left and 'KONING DER NEDERLANDEN' to the right, inscribed along the coin's periphery in raised Latin lettering. The overall design reflects a modern numismatic aesthetic consistent with contemporary Dutch commemorative coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the centenary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, founded in October 1919 and the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name. The Royal Dutch Mint released this piece as part of a broader series commemorating Dutch achievements in aviation — a field the Netherlands has punched above its weight in since the interwar period, when KLM was already running scheduled service to Batavia via a route spanning over 15,000 kilometers.
