| Obverse description | Within a magnifying glass rendered in relief, a cartographic depiction of ancient Gaul is shown, with the small Gaulish village of the indomitable holdouts prominently indicated at the northwestern tip of the map. The surrounding field evokes the Roman encampments besieging the village, faithful to the iconic opening imagery of the Asterix comic series. The denomination, date, and mintmark legend appear in the lower portion of the field. The design is executed in a highly detailed illustrative style consistent with the original artwork of Goscinny and Uderzo. |
