Additional information

Rainier III died on April 6, 2005, after 56 years on the throne — the longest reign in Monaco's modern history. This issue was struck the same year, during the brief interregnum before Albert II's formal investiture in November, making it one of the earliest coins to bear Albert's name as reigning sovereign.
