Obverse description The obverse depicts a pedimental sculptural fragment from the Parthenon, rendered in relief and occupying the central field. The Hellenic national emblem appears in the upper portion of the design. The legend ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ (Hellenic Republic) arcs around the periphery, while the face value 10 ΕΥΡΩ and the date 2008 are inscribed within the field. The composition reflects the neoclassical artistic tradition associated with Greek commemorative coinage.
