| Reverse description | The reverse depicts Fred, a lieutenant in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles serving with the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, which landed on Juno Beach during the Normandy invasion. His unit fought through the Battle of Normandy at Caen and Falaise before advancing toward the Seine, liberating Rouen on 30 August 1944. The division subsequently liberated Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais before being deployed to Belgium and the Netherlands, where it participated in the Battle of the Scheldt and the Breskens Pocket, enabling the reopening of the port of Antwerp. The campaign concluded in Germany, with the unit preparing the assault on the town of Aurich. The inscriptions ALLEMAGNE, Aurich, the date 2025, and the word KAPUT appear within the design. |
