Obverse description At the centre of the coin, a faithful reproduction of the reverse design of the historical 8 Reales of Carlos IV (KM# 432.1, dated 1808) is displayed within a raised circular border: it depicts the Royal Coat of Arms of Castile and León quartered with Granada enté en pointe, and the dynastic fleurs-de-lis of the House of Bourbon in the centre escutcheon. The surrounding annular field bears the issuer name, face value, and year of issue. The mint mark 'M' and assayer initials 'FA', along with the denomination mark '8' and mint letter 'R', are incorporated in the legend, referencing the original colonial mint coinage.
