| Reverse description | The reverse displays a full-color reproduction of Velázquez's celebrated painting 'Prince Balthasar Carlos on Horseback' (c. 1635), occupying nearly the entire inner field of the stamp-shaped flan. The composition depicts the young prince astride a rearing brown horse, dressed in elaborate courtly attire including a plumed hat and richly embroidered costume, set against a sweeping landscape with mountains and clouds rendered in naturalistic color. The image is faithfully reproduced with fine detail and vivid polychrome coloring applied by colorization technique. A denticulated stamp-style border frames the field, and the inscription VELÁZQUEZ appears in raised lettering within a plain rectangular cartouche along the upper margin. |
