| Descrição do anverso | Against a mirror-like proof field, the centre of the obverse features a large stylised numeral '200' rendered as an abstract graphic design, with the '2' formed by a series of concentric wave-like lines and the '1' incorporating diagonal parallel striations, commemorating the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821. The Hellenic Republic coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing a cross, encircled by a laurel wreath — appears at the bottom centre of the field. The legend 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' arcs along the upper inner field, while the inscription '200 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΜΕΤΑ ΤΗΝ ΕΠΑΝΑΣΤΑΣΗ' runs along the outer border. The integration of Thessaly and Arta into the Greek state in 1881 was the result of the Congress of Berlin three years earlier, where the Great Powers pressured the Ottoman Empire to cede the territories without a single shot fired — a rare diplomatic victory that Greece's military had failed to achieve by force in 1854 and again in 1878. The transfer was formalized on July 2, 1881, adding roughly 13,500 square kilometers and a substantial agricultural population to the kingdom under Otto's successor, George I.
The 140th anniversary issue was part of the Bank of Greece's ongoing commemorative program documenting successive territorial expansions of the modern Greek state.
