The inscription 'ΕΠΤΑΝΗΣΑ' (Ionian Islands) appears to the left of the portrait within the inner circle. The broad border field is adorned with two symmetrical olive branches extending from the lower center upward along each side, their leaves rendered in high relief against the mirror-polished ground. The date '1864' is inscribed at the top of the border and '2021' at the bottom, commemorating the 1864 union of the Ionian Islands with Greece and the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. |
