Luxembourg's euro coinage was delayed at the 2002 launch because the Grand Duchy lacked its own mint — pieces were struck at Utrecht under contract with the Royal Dutch Mint. The "2nd map" reverse, introduced across the eurozone in 2007, replaced the original EU map that had awkwardly omitted the ten newly joined member states.
Henri's effigy on this series was modeled relatively early in his reign, which began in 2000 following the abdication of Grand Duke Jean.
