| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, rendered in a modernist geometric style with clean, angular lines characteristic of the engraver Yvette Gastauer-Claire. The portrait occupies the central field, with the Luxembourgish country name LËTZEBUERG inscribed along the upper left rim and the date appearing vertically to the left of the bust. The designer's initials GC appear at the lower left of the portrait. Twelve five-pointed stars, representing the European Union, are arranged in a ring around the inner border of the coin. |
