背面描述 The reverse presents the first-series European Union map design by Luc Luycx, depicting the fifteen member states of the EU rendered in relief against a globally projected globe background. The face value '10 EURO CENT' is inscribed to the left of the map in bold relief, with the designer's initials 'LL' appearing in the lower right of the field. The twelve stars of the European Union encircle the entire design along the outer ring, a common motif shared across all eurozone member state coinage of this series.

附加信息

Austria's early euro coinage carried the "first map" reverse — depicting the EU as a cluster of member states surrounded by blank space — only until 2008, when all eurozone nations adopted a revised map showing Europe as a continent without borders. The change was driven by the EU's expansion; the original design awkwardly excluded new member states as they joined, making it politically untenable to keep striking.

Austrian euro coins from this window are notable for their high mintage figures in 2002 and sharply lower production in subsequent years, as initial hoarding by the public gave way to a genuine circulating supply.
