The 1996 Dutch 10 euro silver issue falls within a commemorative series produced under Beatrix during the final decade before the Netherlands surrendered the guilder to the euro. The Royal Dutch Mint at Utrecht — one of the oldest continuously operating mints in Europe — struck these in .999 fine silver rather than the sterling standard more common to earlier Dutch commemoratives, a deliberate choice reflecting shifting collector market expectations in the mid-1990s.
