Obverse description Central device comprises the colonial arms of Angola: a quartered shield displaying the Portuguese quinas and the Angolan charge of an elephant and zebra, superimposed upon an armillary sphere with meridian bands. Five mural crowns surmount the shield in a row. Four rosette ornaments flank the central device in the field. The curved legend ANGOLA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 10$00 is inscribed in large numerals along the lower periphery.
