TOMÉ·E·PRÍNCIPE' runs along the upper periphery, separated by small star ornaments, all within a beaded border.

Informazioni aggiuntive	The Banco Nacional Ultramarino issued this coin for Portuguese Guinea, one of Lisbon's most contested colonial holdings by 1971 — the PAIGC liberation movement under Amílcar Cabral had by that point secured control of an estimated two-thirds of the territory's interior, rendering much of this coinage effectively unusable in the regions it nominally served. Guinea-Bissau would declare independence just two years later, making the entire BNU series for this territory among the shortest-lived colonial currency programs Portugal ever produced.
