Beschrijving keerzijde Central field contains a multi-line Latin scriptural inscription within a plain inner circle: NON EST CVRRENTIS NEQVE VOLENTIS SED MISERANTIS DEI (Romans 9:16: 'It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy'). The surrounding border legend carries the date and additional titulature in Latin, all within a beaded outer border. The reverse layout reflects the devotional character typical of Rákóczi's coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

Zsigmond Rákóczi's reign as Prince of Transylvania lasted barely a year — he abdicated in March 1608 after failing to consolidate support among the Transylvanian estates, who remained deeply suspicious of his Habsburg sympathies. This 10-ducat piece, struck in 1607, falls squarely within that unstable window, making it one of the few large gold multiples his treasury produced before the government dissolved around him.

Resch's attribution places this among the rarest of Transylvanian multiple-ducat issues, with surviving examples countable in single digits across major collections.
