表面の説明 Vertical borders composed of decorative branches frame the note on both sides, enclosing two circular vignettes: the left circle contains a female allegorical figure with the legend ROMÂNIA UNA ȘI NEDESPĂRȚITĂ around its periphery, while the right circle bears the inscription COMITETUL NAȚIONAL REVOLUȚIONAR ROMÂN. The Wallachian eagle occupies the upper centre above the central text block. Along the lower register, three vignettes appear in sequence: a helmet resting upon crossed swords, a depiction of Romulus and Remus nursing from the she-wolf, and a cannon barrel with three cannonballs.

The Romanian Revolutionary National Committee was a Paris-based émigré organization formed in the aftermath of the failed 1848 revolutions in Wallachia and Moldavia. This note — if it can be called that — was not issued by any functioning government or bank, but by exiles who had no territory, no treasury, and no realistic prospect of either. The denomination in ducats is itself a political gesture, a deliberate archaism invoking pre-Ottoman monetary tradition rather than any currency in actual use.

Whether these notes ever circulated in any meaningful sense is doubtful. They are better understood as fundraising instruments or propaganda tokens — the kind of paper that revolutionary committees issued to assert legitimacy they did not yet possess. MBR#1 places it at the very beginning of Romanian notaphilic literature, which says more about its rarity and historical oddity than about any monetary function it performed.
