Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Maximilian I, Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, robed in the Order's mantle and wearing an imperial crown, holding a sceptre in his right hand and a sword at his left side. To the left of the figure stands a lion supporting an armorial shield; to the right appears an elaborate heraldic device with a crowned eagle. The encircling Latin legend reads MAX: D G: ARC :AV: D: BV: MAG: PRVSS: ADMI., abbreviating his full titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Administrator of Prussia for the Teutonic Order.
