| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Empress Maria Theresia, her hair arranged in elaborate curls falling to the shoulder, wearing an imperially draped mantle with ornate shoulder detail. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the bold Baroque style characteristic of the Vienna Mint. The circular Latin legend reads M THERESIA D G R IMP GE HU BO REG, identifying her as Queen of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia by the grace of God. The legend is positioned close to the milled border, which frames the entire design. |
