10 Ducats - Josef Johann Adam

Josef Johann Adam ruled Liechtenstein from 1721 until his death in 1732, but this coin was not simply a contemporary issue. The piece belongs to a long series of restrikes produced by the Vienna Mint — the 1968 date range reflects exactly that practice, with later strikes made decades after the original reign using updated or preserved dies. The Fürstentum had virtually no functioning mint of its own, relying entirely on Austrian facilities.

Friedberg 8 encompasses both original strikes and the restrike production, which complicates auction provenance significantly.
