Obverse description Laureate and armored bust of King Frederik III facing right, wearing a cuirass with ornate shoulder pieces and a flowing cravat, his long curled hair falling to his shoulders in the Baroque style. The royal effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the engraving of the armor's riveted bands. The encircling Latin legend reads FRID III D G DAN NOR VAN GOT REX, identifying the king as Frederik III by the Grace of God King of Denmark, Norway, the Vandals and the Goths. The milled edge border frames the design on the coin's periphery.
