| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing an elaborate ruffled collar and armored shoulders with decorative mantle. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features, including a beard and mustache. A circular beaded inner border frames the portrait, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading FERDINANDVS II D G R I S AVG G HVN BOH REX. |

| Reverse description | Double-headed imperial eagle displayed, surmounted by a large ornate imperial crown, with wings spread and each head facing outward. The eagle bears on its breast a quartered shield of arms of the Habsburg dominions, with the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended below. The date 16Z1 appears in the legend, which reads ARCHID AVS DVX BVR CO TYR ZC, distributed around the periphery within a beaded inner border. The entire composition is executed in bold, deeply struck relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century Viennese goldsmithing. |
