| Obverse description | Elaborately rendered oval quartered coat-of-arms with central escutcheon, supported by two rampant lions flanking the shield, surmounted by three ornate crested helms with profuse mantling and plume crest issuing from the central helm. The arms are rendered in fine relief in the Mannerist style typical of early 17th-century German coinage. The circumferential legend in Latin runs between an inner beaded border and an outer laurel wreath, reading the titles of Count Ernest III of Holstein-Schaumburg. |
