| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely occupied by a seven-line Latin inscription in large, bold Roman capital letters, reading across the field and referencing the collection of funds from sacred and profane sources for the relief of the poor, dated M·D·XXIX (1529), with BONONIA (Bologna) at the foot. A small decorative foliate or floral ornament appears at the top of the field above the inscription, and a similar device punctuates the lower border. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, characteristic of hammered coinage of the Papal States. |
