| 裏面の説明 | A stylized six-armed cross formed of elongated fleur-de-lis motifs radiates from the centre of the field, with decorative lily blossoms occupying each of the six angles between the arms. At the centre, a shield-shaped cartouche bears the Roman numeral X above the inscription DUCAT. The fineness mark 980 appears at the base of the central motif. The circular Latin legend is divided into two arcs by decorative dot ornaments, running along the full periphery of the field. |

The "Aureus Magnus" series was a privately commissioned medallic issue, not a product of the Bundesbank or any federal mint authority. These pieces were struck by a private German firm in the mid-1950s and carry no legal tender status — the denomination is essentially decorative, assigned by the issuer rather than the state. The Federal Republic at that time was still operating under Allied occupation monetary frameworks transitioning to Deutsche Mark sovereignty, and no federal gold coinage of any kind was authorized for circulation.
The X# prefix in the reference confirms its non-circulating medallic classification under the Krause system.
